Shaping the Future, One Acre at a Time
Transforming a massive 2,200-acre site into a prime industrial location takes careful planning and coordination. This project required the excavation and relocation of 3 million cubic yards of soil, all while navigating complex permitting and multi-level funding from federal, state and county sources. With two counties involved in ownership and the need for a Nationwide Section 14 Wetland Permit, SDW worked through logistical and environmental challenges to ensure a smooth process.
Funded by the Mississippi Development Authority Site Development Funds and Housing and Urban Development Funds, this project isn’t just about land preparation — it’s about paving the way for major industrial clients to bring jobs and growth to the region. By leveling the site and constructing a 1.6-mile access road, SDW is making it easier for prospective businesses to see the site’s full potential and invest in the future of Hattiesburg.
